Scrap Quilt III

It really is hard to believe.
With boxes of lovely fabric, fat quarters, half meters and meters….

I seem to have so much pleasure, dedicating my time to this, scraps

For me, this is a the real Patchwork from scraps to beautiful quilts
A lot of work, a lot of patience but for me a total pleasure
And @ £5.00 for that bag of scraps, I think that it was well worth it
And they are coming along!!

Still haven’t got a clue, how the quilt will look like, but I am in no hurry, there’s still a long way to go.
Meanwhile, I will carry on, making the squares

It’s Sunday night, that ’not so nice’ evening of the week, I am in ‘my’ room, where the ideas, the creativity come to light.
Just had my lovely cup of tea, in the background the radio is playing soft music
Suddenly I have to stop what I am doing and start sketching my idea.
Like Magic, I know exactly what I want, and it’s there in paper
Who said that Sunday nights can’t be good
The evening, the quietness and the inner peace have created a ‘Special’ moment.
Just have to ‘transform’ what is there in paper to a real object
And that might just be the first Original of ‘Simply by Carla’

And it all started with strips, then squares, and now, for me the most interesting part, putting all the pieces together, and start seeing the light in the end of the tunnel

Como vos mostrei os tecidos aqui ontem foi a vez de começar o meu novo quilt

A very interesting method, and first time for me
As I showed you here, yesterday was the start of my new quilt

Comeca-se por unir uma tira branca com uma de cor

Start by joining one white and one coloured strip

Depois cosemos de ambos os lados duas tiras previamente unidas, lado direito com lado direito

Then we sew two strips previously sewn, right sides together

Depois cortamos em triangulos

Then we cut them in triangles

Muitos triangulos mais tarde…

Lots of triangles later…

E quando abrimos o triangulo, temos o quadrado

And when we open the triangles we have a square

E agora, ou daqui a uns dias vai ser a parte mais interessante, que é distribuir e arranjar os quadrados para o top do nosso quilt
And now, or in a few days we start with the most interesting part, arranging the squares to form the top of the quilt

Sei que tenho andado tao desaparecida, mas primeiro culpo o Facebook , quer dizer culpada sou eu, mas é mais giro culpar outra coisa.
Entre uma operacao, entre prendas de Natal, entre estar com Amigos, entre estar com pessoas muito Especiais, isto tudo tem contribuido muito para a minha ausencia aqui do blog.
Pois e nao vamos esquecer o trabalhar, fim do ano financeiro, e muitoooo trabalho
Mas hoje passei por aqui para vos desejar uma optima semana e dentro de dias publicarei aqui umas fotos, pois este sabado vou escolher os tecidos para o novo quilt, nova técnica e estou tao excitada
Portanto nao julguem que me esqueci de voces simplesmente ainda nao consigo esticar o meu tempo, precisava muito mais de 24 horas.
Mas a vida é Boa, Muito Boa mesmo.

I know I have been away far too long, but firstly I blame Facebook, well the blame is mine actually but it’s much easier to blame something else.
Between one operation, Christmas Presents, being with friends, being with very Special People, all of this has contributed for me not posting in my blog.
Well and let’s not forget the day job, end of the financial year and lotssssssssssssss of work.
But I am posting today to wish you a great week, and in a few days I will put some photos, because this Saturday I am going to choose the fabrics for a new quilt, new technic and I am so excited
Therefore don’t think that I have forgotten you, I just can’t seem to stretch my time, I needed much more then 24 hours in a day

Esta altura do ano, é sempre complicado para por fotgrafias no blog, e entao este ano, que decidi fazer as prendas de Natal, parece que nao estou a fazer nada mas antes pelo contrário, ainda me faltam algumas mas estarao feitas.
O curso continua a correr optimamente, e parece que vou fazer um quilt para a próxima de’ jelly rolls’, só tenho que escolher 8 tecidos, e ainda nao o fiz
Aqui ficam umas imagens do que tenho andado a fazer, prometo que depois do Natal, mostro as fotos em completo

This time of the year, it’s always complicated to put photos in the blog, and this year, that I have decided to do all the Christmas presents, it looks like I am not doing anything, but it’s quite the opposite, still missing a few, but I will do it.
The course is still going, enjoying more and more, and I think next month I will be starting a new quilt, ‘jelly rolls’, I just have to choose 8 fabrics, which I haven’t done yet

Como já aqui tinha dito hoje acordei muito cedo, 6.30 am cedinho para mim e lá fui eu rumo ao Alexandra Palace, nao conhecia nem o palácio, e para ser sincera nem da sua existencia.
Mas hoje iria ficar marcado pela minha primeira visita a uma exibicao deste género.
Hoje marcou tambem o primeiro dia a valer de Outono, onde as temperaturas estavam menos 8 graus do fim de semana passado.
Lá fui eu, de mochila, com máquina fotográfica e pronta para a minha aventura

As I have mention here before, today I woke up early, 6.30 am, early for me, mind you, and I went to Alexandra Palace, didn’t know the palace, and to be honest, didn’t know that it existed
But today would be marked by my first visit to an exhibition of this kind
And today we had the first real day of Autumn where the temperatures were 8 degrees lower than last weekend.
And off I went, rucksack, with camera and ready for my adventure

Eu gostava que me explicassem, porque juro que nao compreendo, porque é que as pessoas ‘normais’ nao conseguem entender que uma pessoa que optou por nao ter filhos, por escolha própria, consegue ser muito Feliz.

Há uns meses atrás, fui escolhida, por uma revista portuguesa para falar no assunto, porque ao longo dos anos, e hoje já com 45 anos, ainda me perguntam o mesmo.

Acreditem que sou muito mas mesmo muito Feliz, se voltasse atrás faria exactamente o mesmo.

Adoro crianças sem duvida, mas diria nao o suficientemente para as ter.

Portanto façam-me um favor, a pergunta já enjoa, e nao, nao tenho inveja de ninguem que tenha filhos, e neste mundo de hoje até pelo contrário, mas esta foi a minha escolha, e tal como eu respeito a vossa, tentem respeitar a minha.

Egoista?

Nem pensar.

I would like to understand, because I promise I don’t, why do ‘normal’ people don’t get it that a person that opted not to have children, by personal choice, can be very happy.

A few months ago, I was chosen, by a Portuguese magazine to write about the subject, because during the years, and today at 45, people still ask me the same.

Believe me I am very very Happy, and if I could turn back time, I would do exactly the same.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love kids, but I could say not enough to have of my own.

So do me a favour, gets a bit boring the question, and no I am not jealous of anybody with children, and in today’s world, quite the opposite, but this was my choice, and I do respect your choice, just try and respect mine.

Este ano, no mes de Setembro já vou com duas prendas de Natal feitas
Lembram-se daquele tecido adoravel que eu estava completamente apaixonada, e pensei que nunca ía conseguir corta-lo, ontem consegui, e o resultado é este.
Está provado que sou terrivel a seguir instrucoes, portanto é ver e rezar para que o resultado final seja satisfatório.

Quando um computador/portatil se estraga fazemos montes de promessas que vamos guardar tudo de hoje em diante, mas na realidade a coisa é bem diferente.

O meu portatil, esta doente, nao sei se tem arranjo, pelo menos aqui no trabalho esta dificil, de lhe verem o problema porque ele nao liga, por sorte, consegui salvar tudo

Vou ter que comprar um novo, apesar do meu ser fantastico, e tenho a esperanca que sim um dia vai voltar a trabalhar.

When a PC/laptop stops working we make lots of promises that from now on we are going to save everything, but in reality things are different.

My laptop is sick, don't know if they can fix it, at least our technicians can't do it, because he just won't start, but at least they were able to save everything

E como ja tinha saudades de pegar em coisas novas, e depois de muito tempo a decidir em que tecidos é que iria usar, tenho que admitir que é umas das partes que eu demoro mais tempo, e será que é desta que vou seguir instrucoes.... hum... nao sei nao, mas decidi seguir um modelo de um dos ultimos livros que comprei.

Sabe bem comecar coisas novas, e ver se me passa o 'drama' de zips, sim é verdade nao e das minhas coisas preferidas, talvez falta de prática.

E assim espero fazer mais uma prenda deNatal, e quem sabe nao é a que te vai calhar.

And because I really missed in starting new things, and after a long time trying to decide on the fabrics, I have to admit, it's one of the hardest parts, and the one that takes me the longest, and I wonder if it's this time that I'm going to follow instructions...... well...... I don't know, but for now I have decide to follow a pattern from one of the books that I bought recently.

It feels good to start something new, and see if I can get through my 'zip' drama, yes it is true, it's not one of my favorite things, but i think I need more practice

Na primeira aula de curso deste ano, vamos fazer uma almofada, 'log cabin' com dobras mais uma técnica.

Mas entretanto foi-nos dado as instrucoes para cortar-mos os tecidos antes da aula, até aí tudo bem, o pior é mesmo escolher os tecidos, recomendaram-me para escolher 6.

Depois de muito ponderar, fiquei por estes.

Nao garanto serem os escolhidos, mas por hoje sao.

We have our instructions to cut the material before we go, all fine up to that point, the worst is to choose the materials, was recommended to choose 6.

After a lot of thought, I chose these ones.

I won't guarantee they will be the ones, but for today they are.

E quem diria, que eu já li o livro de instruccoes do meu novo forno.
Inacreditável, só me lembro de ter feito isto quando comprei a minha máquina de costura Husqvarna.
E quem diria que o meu forno, só com a luz do forno ligada durante 8 horas faz iogurtes.
Nunca pensei nisto......

And my new oven, only with the oven light on for 8 hours does Yoghurts.

E aqui estamos nós com um belo de um fim de semana á porta.

Esta semana foi boa, uma semana positiva, calma, e cheia de coisas boas.

Este fim de semana vai ser óptimo, amanha curso, uiii estou tao ansiosa, o ultimo deste ano, e depois voltamos em Setembro

Nao tenho mostrado nada, no que respeita a Patchwork porque como vos disse nao posso, mas deixem-me dizer, e isto dito por mim tem que se lhe diga, está Lindo!!!!

Estou bastante mas mesmo bastante Feliz com o resultado, e em breve comecarao os presentes para os miudos, e essas depois mostrarei, pois sei que nao visitam o blog.

This was a good week, a positive, relaxed and full of good stuff.

This weekend is going to be great, tomorrow is course day, can't wait, the last one of this season, and then we are back in September.

I haven't shown you anything regarding Patchwork, because as I mentioned before, I can't, but let me tell you, and told by me is something, it's Beautiful!!!

I am very Happy with the result, and soon I'll start in the presents for the kids, those I will be able to show, as they don't visit my blog.

Nao me esqueci de voces, jamais

Somente o tempo é pouco, para tudo, e infelizmente o blog é que sofre.

As obras continuam, o Patchwork de vento em poupa, e as pessoas, bem essas........ nao deixam de me surpreender, nunca a frase ‘ Quanto mais conheco as pessoas, mais gosto dos animais’ foi tao dita por mim.

Realmente a vida é assim, pontapé daqui pontapé dali, mas isso no fim tenho a certeza que nos vai fazer melhores pessoas.

Mas passando ao que realmente interessa, a cor que escolhi para um das paredes da cozinha, digamos que é chocante!! E de certeza que de manha quando for tomar o pequeno almoço acordo imediatamente, querem saber a cor? Querem ver a foto? ...... pois a cor eu sei qual é, logo vou ve-la na parede, e espero que seja como eu imaginei... a foto..... ui essa virá em breve, quando estiver tudo pronto.

Digamos que a cor significa esperança... esperanca de que eu aprenda com cada pontapé que estou a levar, esperanca de me comecar a por em primeiro lugar, e esperanca que amanha eu comece realmente a apreciar esta grande pessoa que realmente sou.

Only that time is not enough for everything, and unfortunately the blog is the one that suffers

The building work continues, the Patchwork looking great, and the people, well ..... they don’t stop to surprise me, never the saying ‘ The more I know people the more I love the animals’ as been mention by me so many times

But I suppose this is life, one kick here, one kick there, but I guess that in the end I will be a much better person

But moving on to what really matters, the colour I chose to one of the walls of my kitchen, let’s say it’s shocking!! I have no doubts that when I come down every morning for brekfast, I wake up imediately, do you want to know the colour? Do you want to see a photo?....... well the colour is chosen, later today I am going to see it on the wall, and I hope that it will look just as I imagine... the photo.... soon when it’s all ready

Let’s just say that the colour means hope..... Hope that I learn with every kick, that I am getting, hope that I learn to put myself in first place, and hope that tomorrow I truly appreciate this great person that I really am.

Amanha é dia de 'Girlie Night', e é a minha vez de cozinhar, entao temos como entrada Pate de Camarao e Caranguejo, servido com Pittas
Para prato principal, temos panados de galinha com sementes de sesamo, com batatas ou arroz (ainda nao pensei bem no assunto), e vegetal, o que houver amanha no mercado com bom aspecto
E para sobremesa framboesas com chantilly
Poucas calorias!!!
E muita muita conversa...... como eu adoro estas encontros
E nós meninas nao gostamos muito de falar.......

Tomorrow is ' Girlie Night', and it's my turn to cook, so for starters we have, Prawn and Crab Pate with Pittas.
Main Course we have Deep fried Chicken with Sesame Seeds, with potatoes or rice (haven't decided yet), and a vegetal, I'll see what looks good in the market tomorrow
For desert we have Raspeberries with cream
All low fat!!!
And a lotta lotta of talking... I just love these meetings

Hoje esteve um dia muito quente aqui na Inglaterra, 29 graus, para nós acreditem que é quente......existe algo melhor que chegar a casa e depois da banhoca e jantar acabar o dia sentada no jardim, com um gelado Haagen Dazs?

O fim de semana foi fantastico, comecou com o meu curso no sabado, onde finalmente mostrei o quilt que tinha feito, foi um momento espetacular, mais ainda por ninguem sonhar que eu já o tinha acabado. Adorei.
Domingo, patchwork, almoco no jardim, patchwork, relaxe, patchwork e mais patchwork...
Fim de semana perfeito!!!

OK se isto é nao ter paciencia nao sei o que é...
É sabado á noite e aqui a menina decidiu comecar um saco hoje, isto depois de já ter feito uma toalha e mais uns envelopes, estao lindos!!!
Mas como estava a dizer, nada como comecar um saco, note-se primeira vez que o faco, instrucoes nao muito claras, ou eu que nao dava com elas.... só quero dizer que já desmanchei duas vezes.... mas nao só um lado, nem dois... mas sim tres .... finalmente acho???? que consegui....
Tudo o que eu quero fazer é um saco igualzinho ao supermercado, mas aquele fundo, estava-me a tirar do sério...
Quem disse que eu nao sou paciente, prometo que hoje passei o teste.

It's Saturday night and this lady decided to start a bag tonight, this is after a tablecloth and some envelopes, they are beautiful!!!
But as I was saying, nothing better than starting a bag, please note, first time I did it, the instructions, not very clear, or I just couldn't get them.... Let me tell you that I 've already unstitched twice..... not just one side, nor two..... but three..... finally I think???? I got it.....
All I want to do is a supermarket carrier bag, but the bottom, was driving me absolutely nuts...
Whoever said I'm not patient, I promise I passed the test.

Novo desafio... New challenge

Este desafio vai ter duas partes, ou seja vai ser feito em grupo
Uma parte aqui na Inglaterra e outra aí em Portugal
Entao uma simples toalha de mesa, vai ser transformada para condizer numa cozinha amarela e branca
Depois de muito pensar, ja passamos ao passo seguinte, que e o comecar..
Já nao estamos mal.
E um dia destes depois passo a bola, neste caso a toalha, para a fase final, a parte do crochet
E a minha mae terá assim uma bela toalha de mesa feita a duas (neste caso 4) maos, as minhas e as dela

This challenge is going to be in two parts, it's going to be a group project
One part here in the UK and the other in Portugal
So a simple tablecloth, it's going to be transformed to match a yellow and white kitchen
After a lot of thinking, we have moved to the next stage, that's the starting point
Not bad.
And one of this days I'll pass the ball, in this case the tablecloth for the final part, the crochet part
And my Mum will have a gorgeous tablecloth made by two (in this case 4) hands, mine and hers
