Well well, who would have believed that in the space of a week I would start two quilts…
If you had told me that last week, I would say impossible.
Anyway, never say never!!
About two /three years ago, I was given, by a beautiful Lady, 3/4 catalogues of fabric samples

I wanted to do something with them but didn’t know what.
This week I bought this book, and it’s absolutely addictive!!
Seriously, it has beautiful quilts!!
In one page they show an ‘antique’ quilt, and the next page, they show and they teach the modern version of that quilt
Oh well I fell in love with the antique version of one (not shown) for a reason.
I’m totally leaving my comfort zone!! And I mean totally!!
Whereas in my previous quilts, everything I do matches, this one, I want the opposite
I don’t want anything to match.
It’s quite fun actually, to mix neutral, with strong colours, sometimes I just think, yuck, they are so different
But that’s the intention.
You know me, I love scrap quilts and this is a real one
This is the one that’s going to be in the sofa, this is going to be my ‘all over the place’ quilt
But I never go the easy route, I think you have figured that one out.
So I’ve decided to cut small squares, and I mean small, two and a half inch squares, and just mix them all, and turn them into bigger squares
Just like this:
As you can see, lovely mess!!
But that’s exactly how I want it to look!!
And then….. well and then…..
You’ll just have to wait and see
Well … for the more attentive will have noticed that I jumped from quilt number one, the red scrappy one, to quilt number three.
I’m keeping that Special girlie one, for a Special occasion, each square takes a lonnnnnnnnnnng time to make it, hexagons, hand sewing and so many things going at the same time
I will show you, just need to do one more square.
This weekend I’m going to focus on this one
Once I’ve cut the around two thousand or two million squares, I think it will be a quick one…… she says!!
Watch this space, and these scrappy quilts definitely test all the patience that you thought you never had it
And I’m suddenly in love, with a quilt that has absolutely nothing to do with me.
You learn something everyday!!
The weekend is nearly here

Take care
