More cards and some recycling

As per some of my previous posts, you know I like to recycle, whenever I can
Same with sewing, it gives me an extra buzz, when I can turn something into something more Special, at least to me
This happened again this week when I went to the Local Charity Book Shop, and I picked up this

Not sure if Mozart would have approved, mind you…

I’m still learning a lot, testing a lot, and it’s exciting
Because of some of my Friends are far away from me, I’m specially fond of anything that has envelopes, mail and messages
Therefore, I can’t get enough of making cards like this

Anyway, I better go and create a bit more today, I’m having a great weekend in the Craft Room
Hope you are having a relaxed one too
xx

New hobby and recycling

Most recently and if you follow me in Instagram or Facebook, you know I have started a new hobby.
Bought a Sizzix Big Shot, and there’s no stopping me
This was the 1st card I made with this machine

There’s just no stopping me at the moment

Apologies about the lighting but it’s a very grey day in this part of the world
But I was up for a challenge, and if you remember some of my transformations
Dad's shirts and Charity Shop Skirts
You just know that transforming something gives me a total buzz
So yesterday I saw this

I played with it

And this is what it became

Shorts

Yesterday, and for once I did what I was told. It’s not very often, that I do , let me tell you.
With my dressmaking, I was have the problem, that the fabrics I have, are very good, like Liberty.
And because I’m a novice, I think hundreds of time before starting something, and then I was change my mind.
So yesterday and after a trip to my Loft, I picked up some material, that if the project was going to go wrong it wouldn’t hurt
So I did, I wanted to these shorts.
I couldn’t be happier, I can now do some nice ones with Liberty Fabric, feel confident to do so.
Unfortunately the weather couldn’t be any wetter, due to Bertha hitting us today, but once the weather improves I will take proper pictures.
By that time I might have another pair. Winking smile
These are ideal for holidays, to wear around the house, and they are so confortable.
They are not made from a beautiful material, but you know what I really like them, and the contrast with the beige, did it for me.
And I got a chance to try my new sewing machine feet, and it makes such a difference to have all the right tools.
Very Happy girl here today Smile

Happy February

Wow it has been a long time, since my last post
Life just seems to be going too fast at the moment …. way to fast actually
Unfortunately not much sewing lately
Apart from Patchwork, I am at Uni doing a Pattern Cutting Course, and the second term is not as easy as the first, now we are more hands on, and with a lot more to do. If that wasn’t enough I also have to watch my online sewing courses, so at the moment, everyday I’m learning something new, and what a great feeling that is
So the blog suffers a bit, I have to admit, Facebook and Instagram, get update a bit more often.
But considering that I will be on holiday in a bit more than a month’s time, and thinking about that, and something I needed it, here is what I’ve done with 4 napkins, of excellent material and chance to try for the first time my French Seams, that I think are brilliant, because of that and the fabric being strong, there was no need to insert lining, which was great
Really pleased with the end result, here are a couple of Laundry Bags

New adventures

I’m one for trying new stuff, I like to experiment new materials
This is my new craze, could be worse. I suppose …..
I’m still waiting for materials to arrive, meanwhile I test the ones that I have already received
What I love about crafts, it’s the variety, I suppose watching the Craft Channel doesn’t really help, but …
Meanwhile I keep practicing

The tags are fun to make, they are from recycled cardboard
Just something else to do, while I’m on my little world
And let me tell you, it’s a lovely place to be Smile
Have a great week everybody xx

Once again ………….. recycling

There are two words in my head that go together, they are Patchwork and Recycling
My first quilt was made with my Dad’s shirts.
And there was a few blue shirts, and the word blue, rings bells right?
Oh yes, the new quilt is all about blues, so what better time to check those shirts once again and let me tell you ……. there is a lot of material still left
So today I just decided to go and check what was in that bag
Et voilĂ  ……..

IMG_6518

Look at those blues Winking smile
Immediately I started cutting

IMG_6519

After I give this quilt I will tell you, why it’s important for this quilt to have Dad’s shirts on it too
This is what I just love about Patchwork, the recycling of all different materials, the meaning on each quilt
They all have a history
And I feel so blessed to be doing something I really Love, with a True meaning
I am a Lucky Lady. Truly I am
xx

Let’s talk recycling …

IMG_3027
Because it’s not all about Fabric and Quilts
Free wall paper samples from home stores, make beautiful personalised envelopes
And the best part, they are free, just be creative  Smile

Finally

Here it is, ‘ The Quilt’
As you can guess still no name, shame on me, but I always take a while to name them
It’s a 100% wool, backed by a nice soft brushed cotton fabric, and bamboo wadding, and cotton/linen binding

I just love it, it’s warm, it’s cuddly it’s just a beauty.
And before you ask, this one is not for sale
Me and ‘him’ somehow it’s going to be a male will go places
And I have a feeling that this one is just going to be the kick I need
Totally in love with it xx

Kilts (Part II)

Once upon a time ……… they were Kilts and Skirts.
After a few hours, and with the greatest of helpers, they are not anymore

IMG_5523

A lot goes through my mind when I was undoing them.
If only the previous owners could see what I was doing to them…… well I thought a lot, about funny things
Anyway, first step, done. Well almost there’s another one that just been bought, there’s me saying that it would be almost impossible to get cheaper than I got, and I was wrong, my lovely aunt bought me one, for £2.50, it was on a 50% sale, I can’t tell you how much we’ve laughed about this.
Well now I’m ready for the next step, and this is the next step

IMG_5519

Lots and lots of ironing to take all the creases
It’s just amazing to see the amount of fabric that I have got
I’m sure there’s much more than one quilt here, but ……
At the moment there’s a lot of work going behind the camera for at least two/three weeks to allow this fabric to get to the ideal cutting stage
Just wanted to show you, what I was up to, and once this is ready, I start the quilt.
Meanwhile, I’ll jump to something else
Stay tuned Smile

Let’s recycle and be creative

Well I’m a truly coffee lover
And last week with my new coffee machine, obviously that came in a cardboard box
So the creative side kicked in

IMG_5168

IMG_5142

IMG_5144

And the result, add some fabric scraps and here we have some homemade tags

IMG_5150

All you need is a bit of time, cardboard and imagination
And be ……………… creative.
Mr Clooney would be proud, and he can always pop in for a coffee Winking smile
