Workshop

Yes today was a day to learn and to socialise, or shall I say the other way round
The company, as always, is excellent
What a great day, followed by a nice dinner

But this was the state of my table.
Absolutely not the way I usually work, and one hour before finishing, got so messy, that just I just couldn’t move relaxed had a nice cup of coffee and chatted
Quite easy for me to do that Winking smile
Example of how not to work

I can’t just show you pretty pictures Winking smile
We had two options of two quilts
This was the one I chose, well sort of …….

Too many dark colours for me, and I knew I was going to do differently, as always.
Have I ever mention, that I very rarely follow any instructions, or patterns?
Well today wasn’t going to be any different, just have some sort of allergy Winking smile
And you obviously can’t see yet, but I went as soft in colours as one could possibly go

There’s method in my madness, believe me
And it will look lovely
The amazing thing is that from 12 people that were there you all interpret in a different way, and all so different, and I suppose that’s the beauty of it
We know what we like, so we make it, so it works for us.
And here is the beginning of another scrap quilt!!!!

Finally

Here it is, ‘ The Quilt’
As you can guess still no name, shame on me, but I always take a while to name them
It’s a 100% wool, backed by a nice soft brushed cotton fabric, and bamboo wadding, and cotton/linen binding

Let’s talk about fabric …. again

How can I tell you how I feel when the postman brings me fabric parcels
Well the truth is I can’t.
There’s passion, there’s excitement and there’s projects, ideas and dreams
All mixed up, is just a fantastic feeling

And today the postman brought a delivery
There’s Josh’s quilt, still no plans, but I’m sure something will come up
I knew the fabric we (me and Josh’s mum ) chose the same

I started doing this, and it’s the second one I get right
I immediately know what I like, after all you talking fabric, not an expert, but I have an eye
So I mix up collections, and the one I like is there
And I then I asked them, which one they prefer
And for the second time in a row, the other collection is for a beautiful girl and is not coming out till April
More of that later on
The mum’s choose the one I originally chose

They are Happy and I’m Happy
And that is it. The rest is up to me
My imagination starts rolling ………………

And then because you think about your stash you can’t not buy for yourself.
Surely that is not allowed Winking smile
So one just has to buy a little bit more, just in case

IMG_5627

Don’t worry they are not meant to go together
Different collections
And tonight I surely will have nice dreams
Green and pink are definitely my colours, amongst others really, not fussy Winking smile
Have a lovely evening, I’m just going there to see in they still fit in my unit ……..

Bia’s Quilt

Once upon  a time …..
This is how stories start.

This is how the story of this Quilt started:
Once upon a time,  a lovely Lady called Bia, gave me a few fabric brochures, with samples
The rest of the story I will let the images describe

And then they (The Quilt and Me) lived happily ever after.

Sneak Peeks

It has been a very busy Friday evening, and a very busy Saturday, ok ok I’ll admit a lot of chatting involved too
But it’s always such good days, when you are surrounded by people that have the same interests
Just amazing days!! And today was one of those
And just a little peek, of what I’ve been doing
First the binding, that is my favourite part the hand sewn part

IMG_5612

And, once upon the time they were skirts Winking smile

And this last one, all I will say is that it’s not for the fainthearted …….. not that easy to work with these materials
Somehow, I always put my foot right in
Let’s see Winking smile

My First Quilt

This was the first quilt I ever made.
As you know, I have a passion for recycling fabric, and this Quilt was made with my dad’s old shirts.
The 19 flowers symbolise my parents wedding day, and their lucky number.
It was a very tough year for Dad, that year, fortunately he got well, and those dark days have gone.
So this is it, a Quilt with a lot of meaning, and it was my first one.
Very very Special I shall say

Quarto 028

Quarto 030

Talking about recycling, this next weekend all those fabrics that once upon a time were skirts are going to turn squares.
Today I bought a navy one and actually those 100% wool fabrics are just fantastic, the lady in the charity shop, was talking to me, about what a fantastic skirt I was buying for a bargain price of £3.00
She looked shocked when I told her that I was going to ‘dismantle’ the whole skirt
And then quietly she said: I hope you know what you are doing
I just replied: Let’s hope so Winking smile

Let’s attack it!!

Well today, and probably the rest of the week, and if not the other too, let’s finish this beast beauty.
It is huge!!!!!!
When you live in a doll’s house like I do, and when you have a quilt this size to work with, it’s not the easiest of the tasks.
But I do love challenges, it won’t be the first, and surely it won’t be the last.
So let’s start

IMG_4967

As some of you know this is also a scrap quilt.
I named it ‘Bia’s Quilt’ because Bia is the lovely Lady that gave me books of sample fabrics
I do love to work with scraps.
The picture only shows half of the quilt.
Have a good day everybody
xx
