Let’s start ……… the final step.

Well this is, after the process of choosing fabrics, my favourite part.
I think it’s all that hand sewing.
I just love it, and looking forward to it.
So the end is near, for the Blue Quilt

As this quilt wasn’t pink, soft, girlie enough, nothing like adding more softness to it
The feeling is just amazing, sooooo soft.
Really happy with my choice.
You just can’t get any softer.


Will I be able to give this one?
I’m sure I will, and the smile in her face will be worth every single minute that I spent making it

On the table ……

Well this is one plan, but there’s a few more …
Today I think I’m going to sandwich that blue quilt. It’s quite a task, it involves moving of furniture too
Then guess what?
I thought of another scrap quilt, and last night ironed lots of my scraps, yes I know… I’m fussy
It’s just my method, can’t function any other way.
When I finish one Quilt Top, all has to disappear from my sight, so all gets put in place, scraps, threads …..everything.
Only then I can think properly into the next project
I only have a small studio, and everything has to be in place.
Looks like a war zone when I’m working, but once finished all goes back to normal.
So this bank holiday, not much rest, but doing exactly what I love
Nether less to say, I woke up so early the whole house has had a clean throughout
Feeling energetic

This is the colour that makes me smile.
This one is soft, this one is girlie, this one ………..
Well this one is just me.
And now I’m just dreaming ….. Wouldn’t just go so well with my new sofa?
But unfortunately it’s not mine
I can’t have them all really ……..
It’s going to a beautiful girl, and that makes me happy



And because I never plan, guess what?

And the borders are ready

And the Quilt top is now ready, for the next stage
I have to say I’m really pleased how it turned out, and I’m sure I will be using that same technique again
Unfortunately I forgot to wash the bottom bit earlier, and now have to wait to dry.
And today is just so wet outside.
Meanwhile I just have to start on another quilt top
Let’s bring the pinks, the flowers and the girlie stuff

Bargain

Well today was just one of those Lucky days, regarding bargains
I was thinking about what to buy for the backing of my Blue Quilt.
Wanted, cosy and warm, and  ……………. voilá
Got exactly what I wanted



At £5.40 from £18.00 wish I could buy more flannelette sheets at this price
And to top it all up



Made in Portugal, couldn’t make me happier
Well that sorted the backing for my Quilt

And I haven’t been as productive as I expected today … too many distractions

Saturday is all about ……..

Relaxing, sewing and enjoying every single minute of the day

If you notice, there’s a DVD that I’m saving for tonight, my Friends, know I rarely watch films
But I am improving, last night watched ‘Sense and Sensibility’ yes I know it’s old, but it was the first for me
Tonight this one, is apparently one for lots of tears, Nicholas Sparks, what do you expect?

Once, twice … three times

Well somebody has been busy…
As I mention before I never plan for my quilts, but this blue one, well I really didn’t want to think much before hand
Once upon a time it started with twelve huge squares, as I was making them I realized it was too big
Then re planned and changed it for nine …………………still too big
Now down to four!!
A few borders here and there and it should be ok …… she says
During this process I have done several quilts (in my head)
This is great, and this is the fun of Patchwork, at least the way I work, I just keep changing the plans
One day, maybe….. who knows, I will follow instructions to do one
This is fun, and I’m loving it …. well missing a bit , the pinks and the girlie colours but ……
The next one will be a quilt for a gorgeous little girl
Meanwhile I let me go back to my blues ………………….

Once again ………….. recycling

There are two words in my head that go together, they are Patchwork and Recycling
My first quilt was made with my Dad’s shirts.
And there was a few blue shirts, and the word blue, rings bells right?
Oh yes, the new quilt is all about blues, so what better time to check those shirts once again and let me tell you ……. there is a lot of material still left
So today I just decided to go and check what was in that bag
Et voilà ……..

Immediately I started cutting



After I give this quilt I will tell you, why it’s important for this quilt to have Dad’s shirts on it too
This is what I just love about Patchwork, the recycling of all different materials, the meaning on each quilt
They all have a history
And I feel so blessed to be doing something I really Love, with a True meaning
I am a Lucky Lady. Truly I am

Here it is ...... the first block

These blocks are fun to make.
They are all going to have something in common, they are all going to have that 4” linen square on the top left hand side ……. there’s always a twist
I never sit down, with pen and paper and plan.
Hummmm …. not me. Just Plan as you Go …. and so far it just seems to work for me
I’m pleased how it looks, I know I have to be a bit more adventurous with the scraps, but slowly I think I will get there
And …. I’m not even counting how many I have to do
Just go with the flow

Seriously ….. let’s start!!

I have been with my mind on other things lately , I think they call it Life
But it’s time to move on, less than 5 months till Christmas, with a long list of projects that have to be done.
I can’t leave it for much longer
And I’m starting with a ‘male’ quilt.
Wow challenge for me, as you know I’m the girlie type, pinks, flowers and so on…
Well …. there are some in the list, have to be patient
But for now, and to kick start the next few months we are going blue……. and maybe add some creams
Using the scraps given to me recently, they are just what I need



And who better for inspiration than the lovely  Crazy Mom
I have admired her quilts for a very long time and let’s see if I can make something to slightly look as gorgeous as her quilts look
