‘Me’ Time

During the week, in the evenings after the usual chores are done, I have around three hours of ‘me’ time.
I actually think, that’s what keeps me sane.
Either I sew, I read, I chat to my friends, I watch TV, I stare, I do nothing.
Those three hours are mine.
I re read I don’t know how many times, my books, I stare at what I do, I stare at my fabric, the collection, is just growing, don’t tell anybody another 13 metres of fabric arriving soon
I just love this sweet little things
I’m never ever bored.
So content….. so relaxed…. so peaceful…
Am I normal? Probably not…
But you know what?
I love it!! Every single minute of ‘Me’ Time

Past Creations I

I haven’t been sewing for long, three years, that’s all
But I want to show you, specially my new readers some of my creations
I’ll show you one every so often
I’m going to start with a bag, which I usually take on holiday
It’s hexagons.
I have to admit, that I have a passion for hexagons, just find them so relaxing



I love hand sewing, so this is just perfect for paper piecing

Seriously

I am such an organised person, why, can't I seem to be able to organise my photos
Once upon a time we use to have albums, I have I don't know how many, dream is, to scan all of those photos, and have all of them in my computer
But, then..... once we started on computers, and luckily I have been able to save all the photos from previous computers that gave up on me, I just don't seem to have the patience to sort them all out.
How does one get motivated to organise a lotta ...... lotta of photos
Seriously they are just so many
 

 
I need to find a way……

Cycling

Sometimes you go far to look for beauty, but often it's so close to you.
You spend years ignoring it, but suddenly you wake up.
I’m so glad I’m discovering what I have just a few steps from where I live
Here’s a little taster



It used to be an old railway track, they have turned it into, cycle/walking/ running route.
The scenery is just breath taking

And the weekend is nearly here

The blog has been a bit quiet this week.

But Life is pretty good in this part of the world, a fantastic visitor last week, done lots, and had so much fun, the weather has been great.

And Life is about all that!! Enjoying every single minute.

It will be back to normal this weekend, away from London, the Olympics are on, and I’m not too good with crowds, last weekend in London was mad, I can just imagine now.

So the plans for this weekend include a bike ride, some cooking, sorting out clothes, ie: ironing and lots of relaxation.

And spending a lot of time with the Special people in my life

I will post some pictures soon from that fantastic bike ride, the scenery is just fantastic and relaxing.

Meaning of a quilt

Today I’m bringing you a short video, about the meaning in certain quilts.
I’m much of a traditional quilter.
It feels good when I recycle fabrics, my first quilt was with my dad’s shirts, I love it, and I’m sure that quilt will always be Special.

Patchwork and this weekend

Well I finally said goodbye to the Patchwork group of three years.
But life moves on, and new adventures are on the horizon.
Regarding my latest quilt, we as a group, came to the conclusion that minimum I need around 120 squares.
Yes you read right 120, wowwwwww
I might start something in between, I’ve passed the halfway mark, so that can only be positive
I’m sure it will look lovely once I finish
What keeps me going? Actually I don’t know, still trying to figure it out
In my normal daily life, I would say, I’m not of the most Patient person I know, but with Patchwork, things are different
I have passion, determination and I really really enjoy what I do
So I suppose if you have all that, it’s enough to keep you going
Anyway let’s see if I can do a few more squares today

What are Sundays all about….

This is that time of the year when the all house smells of my favourite smell……. lavender!!
Picked from the garden, just Love it!!!!
With an almost …. blue sky….. and let me tell you the sun does exist…. we haven’t seen much lately, and we almost forgot what it felt like, to have a nice watermelon smoothie in the sunshine.
Was divine, so much so, that I forgot the picture
A lovely chocolate and banana cake, that has just come out of the oven.
And some lovely chicken for dinner
Of course, in the middle there’s Patchwork, but I will talk to you about that one later

Where????

December 2008’ Koh Samui Thailand

I don’t like crowds, and I prefer to go on holiday, in the Winter.

And my type of holiday, what I really call holiday, is just beach and sun, far away….

In this exact beach I found and I tasted Paradise

I have been there four times, and I just love it!!!

The search has started……..

Will it be Thailand once again?

I still have five months to think about it

Greyer than this…..

……. sorry…….. it’s impossible!!!



But weather is not what it matters to me.
There is the chance to go and see the Olympic Flame, passing in St. Albans, but, somehow don’t think so
But, something else is calling me…..


Have already 45 squares, 9 999 955 to go…….
I’m sure the scraps are multiplying by the minute
But I’m determine, and that’s good enough for me.
And there’s always the tennis on telly to watch this afternoon
So, it looks like a pretty good Sunday from where I’m standing

Sunday Morning Quilts

First of all apologies to the authors, I should have written this post a few months ago
For a Lady that loves Patchwork, and specially scraps…..
This book, that I was waiting for a few months is just so so lovely. I was so excited!!
It has great ideas, and it is such an easy reading. A total pleasure
I follow Amanda’s blog in reader for a while now, Cheryl’s  blog I started to follow now
By the way, they both have a lovely giveaway now, so go there and if you win, always remember who told you lol

I’m in Patchwork only for three years.
And yes I am addicted!!
You know that.
So all I can say is, I love this book, and well well recommend it.

I only wanted mint, normal mint….

Well I am not a gardener, would love to know so much more, but unfortunately don’t
So when a person like me, goes to the Garden Centre, always learns something, which is great, by the way.
I went there with one intention, to buy mint.
As simple as that, thinking of summer drinks, with lots of ice and mint
Well, I didn’t know there’s so many kinds of mint!
Wow, was so confused, but one that I didn’t even think it existed, had to come home with me
You would never guessed why??



I can just imagine a chocolate drink with a bit of this mint
Did you know this existed?
How come you never told me?
Well, well sweet ignorance!!!
But it’s never too late!
Can’t wait to try it

And also brought home what I really went there for
Just normal mint, this one for cooler options



One is always learning!!!

Very Portuguese indeed…

Well, this Sunday we had a very typical BBQ.
Sardines, peppers, broa ( a nice Portuguese bread) potatoes and tomatoes
It was delicious!!!
